Directions to the Dragonboat Race and Parking Areas

This year 2017 the Asian Festival Dragonboat Race returns to the west banks of the Scioto River between the West Rich St. and W. Main St. bridges. On any other year, the area south and west of COSI is easily accessible to vehicular traffic and offers plenty of parking space. However with the new COSI parking garage construction and the larger Franklinton development, plus the Girls on the Run 5K event on 05/21/2017, visitors will need to navigate the road closures and cope with limited parking. The information here should help alleviate these concerns.

Public Parking

Hopper App

Hopper Carts is excited about the Dragon Boat race, and equally excited to offer you FREE RIDES. They are offering rides to and from your parking spot near the Dragon Boat race. Please be on the lookout for Hopper Carts in and around suitable parking areas. They will be offering free rides between 10:30am to 5:00pm on race day.

There are two ways to access free rides through Hopper:

  1. Downloading the Hopper app on your Android phone. Unfortunately, the iPhone app is not available yet.
  2. Look for large-sized Golf Carts covered in a wrap with advertisements such as Byers, Columbus Arts Festival, and others. All you need to do is wave them down if you want to stop them and they will give you a ride. It is up to you to tip the driver for their service.

Hopper carts is an eco-friendly, 100% electric transportation option that operates seven days a week in the downtown Columbus area. They are thrilled to be a part of the Dragon Boat races! Please remember, their drivers are compensated solely on tips. Please show them your appreciation.

It’s uncertain how the Girls on the Run 5K event affects bus routes. In any case, this map shows the bus stops near the Dragonboat Race.
